Maureen Aspinall and Murphy

My name is Maureen Aspinall, and I own two ex-racehorses- one called Caius (pronounced 'Keys') aged 18 years who is companion for Murphy (Listen to Me).

I bought Murphy as a four year old in 2006 to hack out, but it wasn't until last year (with my children at last grown up!) that I decided to do more with him. We tried eventing and he came second in a BE 90 and won a BE 80. However it was when we tried the show ring that Murphy began to really shine and I am concentrating on ROR classes as well as Small Riding Horse.

He has qualified for the Tattersalls Final at Hickstead 2011 and we also hope to do well in 'Search for a Star'. He has won many classes and championships.

One concern was what to feed him. There is an overwhelming and confusing range of products on the market.

I decided to contact Clare to help me out. Murphy needed more topline but it was important not to create excess exuberance! Clare came to see Murphy and Caius and spent a lot of time explaining how different feeds worked. We covered every aspect of nutrition and I felt I was able to ask any questions however small or trivial they might have seemed.

As a result I had a great deal of information to absorb, however Clare sent me a detailed report covering everything we had discussed. This was very useful. I now feel more confident about how to feed my horses and both of them are looking and behaving very well as a result.
